Sælgers beskrivelse

The Ferrari 308 series was introduced in the mid 1970s as a successor to the Dino 246, quickly establishing itself as one of the most iconic V8 Ferraris of its era. Designed by Pininfarina, the 308 combined sharp wedge styling with everyday usability, making it one of the most recognizable sports cars of the period. During the 1980s, a very different chapter of automotive history emerged, one defined by bold and sometimes controversial tuning culture, particularly in Germany. It was within this environment that Lorenz and Rankl created some of the most unusual Ferrari conversions of the era, transforming fixed roof cars into open top Spider variants that Ferrari itself never produced.

Introduction

About the car

This particular Ferrari 308 GTSi was delivered new in Germany in 1982 before undergoing a remarkable transformation by Lorenz and Rankl, who converted the car into a Spider configuration for a cost of 45,000 DM at the time, representing a very significant investment. The conversion places this car among a highly exclusive group, with estimates suggesting that only a very small number of Ferrari 308 cars were modified in this manner. The car has a well documented international history, delivered in Germany in 1982, exported to the United States in 1988, returned to Germany in July 2016, later sold in Germany with approximately 21,198 km, approved by Ferrari Denmark in May 2018, and registered in Denmark in June 2019. Today, it stands as a rare piece of automotive history, representing a time when even Ferrari was not immune to radical reinterpretation.

Exterior

The defining feature of this car is its open top configuration, achieved through a period Lorenz and Rankl conversion. The result is a distinctive Spider silhouette that differs from factory Ferrari designs, giving the car a unique presence and historical character. The appeal lies not only in its aesthetics but also in its story, this is a car born in Maranello and shaped by the bold tuning culture of 1980s Germany.

Interior

The interior has seen continued attention, including updates such as new carpets and refreshed trim elements. Enhancements like central locking with remote control, aluminium pedals, and a steering wheel extender improve usability while maintaining a classic driving feel. The result is a cabin that blends classic Ferrari character with subtle usability improvements.

Engine

The car retains its original Ferrari 308 GTSi mechanical foundation, supported by extensive recent mechanical work. A comprehensive service carried out in March 2026 at 23,922 km included timing belt replacement, new tensioner bearings, oil and filter service, coolant and gearbox oil service, valve adjustment, and cleaning of the cooling system. Further improvements include a new water pump, alternator, exhaust system, and replacement of numerous hoses and wear components.

Service and maintenance

The car has undergone significant refurbishment and maintenance work, particularly in recent years. This includes a complete brake overhaul with discs, pads, hoses, and caliper refurbishment, refurbishment of the convertible roof and mechanism, new tyres and refurbished wheels, cooling system upgrades with new fans and radiator cleaning, replacement of clutch related components and gearbox parts, and electrical improvements such as starter immobilizer, antenna, relays, and battery. The extent of this work reflects continuous care and investment.
