Saab 96 Monte Carlo 850, year 1966.
Colour white combined with a red / grey sport interior.
This fantastic ‘long-nose’ Saab 96 with 850 cc two-stroke engine is an original and rare Monte Carlo model.
The car was wonderfully restored and overhauled to perfection in the years 2017 – 2020.
A photo report of the restoration is present.
Everything was restored to original specifications including the interior which shows the correct red vinyl, grey wool, and silver piping on the seats and door panels.
The original sporty Monte Carlo dashboard looks impressive with all the gauges and the Monte Carlo badge. This car was factory fitted with a sliding / folding roof which opens as fas as the rear bench! The open top experience can be enjoyed by all passengers.
The ‘long-nose’ model features two additional Hella spot lamps in the grille, just like the successful factory rally cars of the period.
The perfectly overhauled 3-cylinder 850 cc two stroke engine is fitted with three carburettors and a special air-filter.
Under the bonnet you also find a special oil tank for the automatic two stroke oil lubrication of the engine.
This ultra-desirable Saab features a four-speed gearbox with steering column shifter and disc brakes on the front wheels.
The Saab Monte Carlo 850 is a Saab collectors dream, this superbly restored example will be the pride of any Saab enthusiast!
