This VW 1303 Cabriolet started its life in California in the USA. It was imported to New Zealand around 2005. I bought the car unrestored in 2015. There was no rust, though the paint had faded completely and the cabriolet roof was very brittle.
In 2016 the car was fully restored by a professional company in New Zealand. Restoration included:
complete new paint, complete new roof inside and out. roof frame powder coated. Engine complete overhauled. Was an injected model for the US was returned to carburetor as sold in Europe. New muffler. All rims were powder coated and 5 new tires fitted. New carpets, all rubber seals new. Basically everything that had slight wear was replaced. Brakes done.
This car drives beautifully and is a great summer car.
Only blemish is the dashboard. It has some slight cracks from the Californian sun. Modern radio with Bluetooth fitted. Aftermarket Recaro Sports seats fitted.
Brought car with me to Denmark in 2019. It is fully certified and licensed in DK.
